I think this was the first track to spearhead my obsession. When I was listening to the podcast, it was the first track that they mentioned where I felt, "Man, that song rules. I haven't heard it in years," and I started listening to it on repeat (and watching the amazing video). It ended up being one of the easiest to put to guitar, but one of my favorites to sing. The drawn out notes in the chorus immediately followed by the sharp-stopped "yeah" response is such a great touch. Joel's ability to use his voice to control his songs is immaculate. This song is a fine example.
Alec Bowman perfectly captures the dark soil under the pastoral world of British folk with this collection of melancholy originals. Bandcamp New & Notable May 12, 2020
