Well I am nothing but a folk singer
And I sing about what really hurts
And I try to make something that you will like
So I pen down music verse for verse
In hoping that I will coerce
The people to accept my withered mind
Cause something that I put out could be well-received
And I could get rewarded for the songs I sing
But I am only on this Earth to do one thing
To sing for you that’s what I do
Well I am nothing but unstable flesh
And slowly rotting conscience
Though some could say I act over the top
And sometimes I seem ridiculous
Though my craft is meticulous
So much so I don’t think I’d ever stop
Cause I’ve got nothing more to do than write these songs
And pray to someone out there that I can go on
With doing what I love and hope that it’s not wrong
To sing for you that’s what I do
I may not be the best but I hope I’m not the worst
And I won’t be the last but I know I’m not the first
And if a sliver of anything I put out grabs attention
Of the feeblest of minds I at least hope that they can mention
That I was not an awful human being
Well I am nothing but some skin on bones
Indebted to The Rolling Stones
And hits of yesteryear that made my style
But would a blind eye bat inside a bar
To one more jangly guitar
A ghost in the musician rank and file
And though I never worried much about success
I only need a little bit of acceptance
To keep me going and not be motivation-less
To sing for you, that’s what I do
